Step 1. Daily Dialogue

Step 2. Say something about American music.

Today we’re going to learn Lesson 42 American Country Music. Now I’d like to play some music for you. It’s the most famous song of John Denver “Country roads, take me home.”------- Do you like it? Can you tell me something about country music?

OK. As we know, country music comes from the country areas of the United States. In fact American music, including classical music and pop music, is the mixture of many countries’ music. In America, the founders of music were European music and African music. The only real American music was Indian music. Before the explorers and colonists came from European countries, Indian music took up North America.

I wonder how many kinds of music you know. (pop music, classical music, folk music, rock and roll, light music , Jazz)

. Now I’ll show you some pictures of American singers, or other countries’

Picture 1:

As we know, country music comes from country areas at this picture. Where is it? ( It’s a picture of countryside).

Picture 2.

Look at this picture. What can you see? (A train) This is a picture about a song “500 Miles”.

Picture 3.

You can see four men in this picture. They are four brothers, a singing group. They were singing the song “500 miles”.

Picture 4.

This is another group of country music.

Picture 5.

In this picture, we can see all of them are very happy. They are women singers. They won the prizes by singing country music.

Picture 6.

This is a beautiful woman, a famous country music singer.

Picture 7.

This picture is not clear. Do you know who he is ?

Picture 8.

Now look at another one. It’s very clear. Who is he?---John Denver.

So much for the pictures . Next time I’ll show you more picture
